Giratina is a Ghost/Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in the Generation IV games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions. Giratina is one of the three members of the Creation Trio, along with Dialga and Palkia. Giratina is the mascot of Pokémon Platinum Version, in which it was given a larger role than in its debut appearance. Giratina is one of the main characters of the film Giratina and the Sky Warrior. In the games, Giratina has its own signature move, Shadow Force, an unavoidable Ghost-type attack (except to Normal-type Pokémon) in which Giratina unleashes a powerful attack on its opponent the next turn.
Since Giratina and the Sky Warrior, Giratina was given a second form, the Origin Forme and its own home, the Reverse World (later named Distortion World in Pokémon Platinum Version). Ever since the Origin Forme was introduced, it has become Giratina's most common appearance, and is shown on Pokémon Platinum Version's game cover. To distinguish, Giratina's other form has been named Altered Forme.

Pokémon Platinum Version
In Pokémon Platinum Version, Giratina is found at the bottom of its home in Distortion World. The player character can fight Giratina once they win against Cyrus in a Pokémon battle. Giratina is encountered in its Origin Forme, which it always appears as in the Distortion World or whenever it is holding the Griseous Orb. At first, during its encounter, Giratina is at level 47. If Giratina is not caught in the Distortion World, it can be instead caught in the Turnback Cave like in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions. Here, Giratina is level 47 like in the Distorted World, but uses its Altered Forme like in its debut appearance.
Giratina is the final Pokémon listed in the expanded Sinnoh Pokédex, having 210 as its Pokédex number.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Giratina returns as a Poké Ball Pokémon. It is also featured as a spirit.
General information
Physical appearance
The body structure of Giratina's Altered Forme somewhat resembles a cross between a centipede and basilisk with demonic and saurian touches. It has a long, light gray, segmented body with six legs. Its thick legs have yellow spikes on the ends of its feet and yellow shackles around each leg. Giratina has two black wings with red horns jutting out from parts of them coming out of its neck. Its neck also has three yellow blade-like crescents around it that match the color and possible material of the crown-like helmet upon its head. These look very similar to a ribcage, opening up the length of its body. Its belly is black with red bars going across it, possibly meant to resemble a spinal column. Giratina has piercing and intimidating red eyes.
Giratina's Origin Forme has a body similar to a snake. It has black and red stripes painted across parts of its body, especially the front. It has several feet resembling yellow spikes, and they stick out from the left and right side of its body each.
Trivia
- Giratina is the first Legendary Pokémon that is a Ghost-type.
