Poké Marts are the main types of shops found in the Pokémon franchise, especially in the core games and the anime series. They sell various items, many being essential to a Pokémon Trainer's journey, and are often associated or next to a Pokémon Center. Poké Marts first appear in Pocket Monsters Red and Green Versions (released internationally as Pokémon Red and Blue Versions).

Poké Marts contain items that the player character can purchase, especially to use for their Pokémon. Among these items are usually Poké Balls, which are used to capture wild Pokémon, and healing items, such as Potions and Antidotes. Later Poké Marts have an enhanced inventory, and sell items such as Super Potions, which heal more HP than a standard Potion, or a Great Ball, which has a greater chance of capturing higher level wild Pokémon than a standard Poké Ball.
Throughout the various regions, cities such as Celadon City, Goldenrod City, Lilycove City and Veilstone City are renowned for their Department Stores, which are a larger version of Poké Marts. These stores have up to six floors and have a much larger assortment of items for sale, including TMs and Poké Dolls. Since Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions, Department Stores also sell items that the player character can add into their Secret Base.
In most games since Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions, a Poké Mart can be identified by its blue roof. In games prior to this, a Poké Mart can be identified from its sign reading "MART" (or "SHOP" in Japanese versions).
In the Generation IV and Generation V games, there are two clerks. One clerk sells specialist items for that particular area, while the other clerk sells the regular range of items. sells the standard range of goods except that this universal range is available in all cities. Starting with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions, Poké Marts update their inventory as the player character progresses in their journey.
