The Vs. Seeker is a Key Item and a device which the player character can use to signal a request for a rematch to nearby Pokémon Trainers. It first appears in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Versions, in which its name is parsed VS Seeker, and it is obtained in Vermillion City. The Vs. Seeker later appears in both Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions and Pokémon Platinum Version. The Vs. Seeker is similar to the Telephone from the Generation II games and the Trainer Eye from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions and Pokémon Emerald Version.

If used, the nearby Pokémon Trainers who agree to a rematch have two exclamation marks displayed over their head briefly, and react by jumping and waving to the player character. Some of them use stronger Pokémon in battle than in their first battle. The Vs. Seeker can only be used outdoors. After using it once, the player character has to walk at least 100 steps to recharge the Vs. Seeker so that they can use it again.
